Matthew 4:14-17 KJV  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,  15  The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;  16  The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.  17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Luke 2:9 KJV  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

All throughout the scriptures God is attributed to being light.  In the beginning, when He created the universe, He said let there be light.  God is light.  The light that we see is something created by Him.  He gives off light because He is light.  Our eyes can only see physical things.  We have spiritual eyes, too.  We must be born again to see the Kingdom of God.  In order to see into the actual spiritual realm is only through the Holy Spirit.

Acts 28:26-27 KJV  Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:  27  For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Paul quotes this from Isaiah 6 so does the Lord Jesus use this in the gospels.  The human race is in darkness because of sin.  Sin caused an effect that would bring in a curse that the world was plagued by.  First caused by sin was a separation from God plunging man into darkness.  Genesis 2:17 KJV  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.  Notice here it says you shall surely die. Why did not they die immediately?  They did die.  They died unto God.  Their spirit was dead and now separated from God.  Ephesians 2:1 KJV  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.  Romans 6:23 KJV  For the wages of sin is death.

Today the human race has such a hard time because of many religions.  There are so many views, ideas, doctrines and etc.  We have an idea that there is a higher power but who we do not know according to our sinful nature.  This result is because of the effect, the curse that came in because of sin.  Blindness, darkness and death to God.  Cannot see God, cannot hear God and cannot know God because of sin.  This is the curse that is why people say that there is no God.  It is argued and debated over religions for thousands of years.  This is why a messiah came to resolve sin, death and hell.

John 3:1-21 KJV  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:  2  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.  3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?  5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  8  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.  9  Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?  10  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

11  Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.  12  If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?  13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  20  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.  21  But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I went to church all my life into my teenage years but I did not know God. I had some experiences but I was still blind, deaf and dead to God.  Why?  I have not been born again by the Holy Spirit.  There are scriptures of God being the light.  In the gospels, Jesus Christ is the light of God.  I didn’t know it personally until I came to the very end of myself at age 25.  10-year drug addiction, family dysfunction, lost and did not have a clue how to live life.  I wanted out.  I was in living in darkness and wanted to come to the light.

In April 20, 2008 1AM in the morning or so, I was so tired of living my life in misery that I started to weep bitterly.  Streams of tears flowing down my face.  Suddenly, a supernatural event occurred during that moment.  A great light appeared in the basement I was staying at.  I couldn’t see the room but it was full of this glorious light.  The same glory and light that was shared in the scriptures.  In this light appeared a man in white robe.  His face I couldn’t see and was brighter than any light that I have ever seen.  While streams of tears flowing down my face, He walks over towards me.  As this was happening, I just knew that He was the Son of God and that we He was God.  Galatians 1:12 KJV  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.  The Lord walked over towards me and entered into my body.  This was my born-again experience coming out of darkness into light.

1 Peter 2:9 KJV  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:  This was my first time when I felt love, peace and joy for the first time.  I was born again just like the Lord said in His Word.
